
GET TO KNOW CHEF ALEX LEVIN
Alex Levin is an award-winning pastry chef and currently works for the Schlow Restaurant Group. In his role, he leads, manages and executes pastry programs at the company’s restaurants across the nation, while working closely with Chef Michael Schlow and the SRG Executive Management Team. He has developed pastry programs at American, Japanese, Latin American, Italian and Spanish-inspired restaurants. Alex’s desserts have been heralded by numerous media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, Eater, Washington City Paper, Zagat's, DC Magazine and others.
After graduating from Yale and focusing on his career in management and finance, Alex decided to leave the structure of corporate America and attend the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY to follow a passion in pastry. He graduated at the top of his class and trained in New York under industry-leading pastry chefs, including Johnny Iuzzini, Francisco Migoya and Noah Carroll at restaurants Jean Georges, Cafe Boulud and the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe.
Alex moved to Washington, DC in 2013 to be the Pastry Chef of Osteria Morini, where he built a reputation for himself and the restaurant during the span of his three years there.
Alex has won national and local awards, joining the group of Eater Young Guns Winners in 2015. In 2016, Alex won a Rammy Award - earning the title of Best Pastry Chef from the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington.
