GET TO KNOW CHEF ALEX LEVIN
Alex Levin joined Schlow Restaurant Group (SRG) in 2017 as its Executive Pastry Chef and member of the Executive Team - working closely with Chef/Owner Michael Schlow, and Spiro Pappadopoulos, CEO. Since joining SRG, Alex has worked on five restaurant openings to implement new dessert menus, while overseeing the rest of the group's dessert programs.

Over the past five years, Alex has continued to direct the Company’s pastry program and has also become Director of Strategic Business Initiatives. In his expanded role and with the SRG executive team, Alex oversees operations, recruiting and coordinates marketing, menu design (Adobe Indesign and Illustrator), photography (Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop) and strategic direction with restaurant management and the SRG Executive Team. He brings core technologies to the group to improve operational efficiency, particularly around prime cost (labor and COGS) reporting and management.

After graduating from Yale and focusing on his career in management and finance, Alex decided to leave the structure of corporate America and attend the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY to follow a passion in pastry and restaurant management. He graduated at the top of his class and trained in New York under industry-leading pastry chefs, including Johnny Iuzzini, Francisco Migoya and Noah Carroll at restaurants Jean Georges, Cafe Boulud and the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe.

​Alex moved to Washington, DC in the fall of 2013 to be the Pastry Chef of the Opening of Osteria Morini, where he built a reputation for himself and the restaurant during the span of his three years there.
Alex has won both national and local awards. He joined the Winners of Eater Young Guns and received a Rammy Award for Best Pastry Chef from the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington.
